Executive directors and their teams: front-line staff, coordinators, program managers, and the board members and volunteers who carry part of the load. No Lean background is assumed. The waste in a not-for-profit usually hides in the handoffs between good people, so these programs work best with a mixed group in the room.
Everyone is busy, and busy feels like progress. But a lot of that effort never reaches the people you exist to serve. It goes into duplicate data entry, reports no one reads, and files that wait. Staff feel the friction every day and have no shared way to name it, so nothing changes and the strain gets blamed on being under-resourced. Lean gives the team one language for the difference between value and waste. We keep every ounce of the rigor and drop the factory jargon.
The awareness rung, for the whole team. A half-day where people learn to see value and waste in their own work, map one real process, put a number on one waste, and leave with a small improvement to test in thirty days. Delivered in-house on your processes, so day-one learning applies to your organization on day two.
The practitioner rung for front-line and program staff. A full day mapping the journey a person travels through one of your services, finding the single step where everyone waits, and redesigning a smoother path with five changes or fewer, each with an owner. Teams leave with a wall map, the real lead time and touch time, a 5 Whys on a genuine quality problem, and a one-page standard.
For coordinators, managers and the executive director. A full day on planning a grant-funded project backward from the outcome the funder is paying for, capturing evidence as the work happens instead of reconstructing it at reporting time, building a status board, and holding a short monthly rhythm. It pairs naturally with grant-writing, because the same evidence discipline strengthens the next application.
Every program is delivered in-house at your site so the examples are yours, in English or French, with matched workbooks and a shared bilingual glossary agreed before the first slide. Each one exits with a real artifact from your own work. A workshop builds the skill. That is exactly the point. Program 1 is a half-day for a mixed group, an easy yes for a director watching every dollar, and every improvement it produces is designed to cost no new money. We start small.
Program 1 for the whole team, in almost every case. It opens the widest, and the wastes it surfaces are the service and reporting problems Programs 2 and 3 go on to fix. If you already have a specific pain, like clients waiting too long or reports getting kicked back, we route straight to Program 2 or 3.
